Indian Orchard Food Truck Festival 2023

The 7th Annual Indian Orchard Food Truck Festival took place on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Myrtle Street Park in Indian Orchard, Massachusetts. Over 20 food trucks served a range of cuisines, including Indian, Mexican, Italian, American, and others, at the festival. There was also live music, games, and activities for people of all ages.

With over 10,000 attendees, the festival was a big success. It was a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy some amazing food, music, and entertainment.

The food trucks that took part in the festival included the following ones:

  • Masala Tacos
  • The Taco Truck
  • The Pizza Truck
  • The Lobster Roll Truck
  • The Mac and Cheese Truck
  • The Ice Cream Truck
  • And many more!

The festival also featured a range of vendors offering local crafts and items. There was also a kids’ zone featuring games and activities for youngsters of all ages.

The Indian Orchard Food Truck Festival, which took place from midday to 6 p.m. on Saturday this year, has grown year after year Ince its inception 7 years back. After the first one, which drew 300 people, it has grown yearly to about 1,000 people, to the point where some food trucks run out of supplies at the end of it.

Zaida Govan, a city councilor and volunteer president of the council, believes the event is here to stay, citing the adage that once a seven-year cycle is completed, it is there forever.Its purpose is to highlight Indian Orchard and bring the community together.

Five bands performed this year, including the Bad News Jazz and Blues Orchestra and the Salsa Brava Orquestra. These bands had performed in the event earlier as well and returned to the festival by popular demand.

The event is made possible thanks to donations from the Springfield Cultural Council, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and the Markham-Nathan Fund. Individuals and businesses contribute to keep the festival continuing.

Since there is no admission charge, the organizers do not attempt to profit from it.

Throughout the event, the council organizes drawings for gift baskets and other prizes and distributes free raffle tickets.

The Indian Orchard Food Truck Festival is a fun event for the whole family. The event is free and open to the public. The festival is normally held in the fall, so save the date for next year!
