Q. When is diwali celebrated?
A. Diwali is celebrated on ‘Amavasya’ which is a No Moon Day( It’s termed as New moon Day as per Western system) of ‘Kartik’ Lunar Month of Hindu calendar. This usually fall in October- November as per Gregorian calendar.
Please note as per Eastern Hindu system New Moon day is considered a day after Amavasya that is called Pratipada. Amvasya means No Moon Day as per Sanskrit language.
In 2023 Diwali will be celebrated on 12 November, Sunday.
